ReSOURCE is now a Certified Lead Safe Firm. A Certified Lead Safe Firm is one that is certified by the EPA to be qualified to work safely with lead.
Common renovation activities like sanding, cutting, and demolition can create hazardous lead dust and chips by disturbing lead-based paint, which can be harmful to adults and children. To protect against this risk, on April 22, 2008, EPA issued a rule requiring the use of lead-safe practices and other actions aimed at preventing lead poisoning.
On April 22, 2010, federally mandated EPA – Lead Paint Renovation procedures became law. Contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and must follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
As a Certified Firm, ReBUILD’s Deconstruction crew has received training so that they can safely work in homes built before 1978 that are likely to have lead paint in them. This means that customers will not need to worry about lead dust (during deconstruction) contaminating their home. ReBUILD Deconstruction closely follows the EPA's Lead Safe Work Practices, completely isolating the work area from the rest of the home to prevent any dust from migrating to other areas of the home.
